Whether it’s tracking animal footprints or enjoying a teddy bear’s picnic there are lots of opportunities to get out of the house and take part in some activities this May half-term at The Commandery, Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum and the County Museum at Hartlebury.
Put a spring in your step and let off some steam in The Commandery gardens with half-term activities inspired by the British Wildlife Awards Retrospective Exhibition which will be displayed in the gardens until Thursday 17 June. Follow animal footprints on a nature-themed trail and solve animal clues along the way to win a prize, and collect fallen flowers, leaves, daisies and dandelions to craft dazzling sun-catchers from Saturday 29 May to Sunday 6 June.
On the bank holiday Monday 31 May, Shropshire Falconry will be displaying amazing birds of prey including hawks, falcons and owls throughout the day, and there will be a printing station to create nature-inspired designs.
Children can join experienced drama therapist Gergo Danka for a physical drama workshop to use their imaginations to create a seafaring vessel at Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum on Tuesday 1 June at 11am. Then on Thursday 3 June, create a version of the Titanic story with a raft of collage materials from 11am – 1pm. Throughout half-term week visitors can explore rare and unique artefacts as part of the Titanic: Honour & Glory exhibition, as well as seeing props and costumes from the 1997 film. Entry is free and the Art Gallery & Museum is open Monday – Saturday 10.30am – 4.30pm. Pre-booking for workshops is essential and workshops are £4 per participant – visit our What’s On page for details about how to book.
The County Museum at Hartlebury is celebrating Terrific Teddies and Toys with fun and games around the Castle and Museum over half-term. On bank holiday Monday 31 May, bring your favourite teddy bear along for a picnic and book a storytelling session to hear all about where teddies go when their children are asleep. On the bank holiday and from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 June, join a teddy bear hunt around the Museum, and craft your own jumping Jack teddy and peg toy. Pre-booking essential as limited spaces are available, call 01299 250416 to book.
