The team is celebrating at Hartlebury Castle as it receives the Best Told Story accolade from Visit England.
The Best Told Story accolade is awarded to attractions that convey a compelling narrative to its visitors, whether through technical innovation or enthusiastic staff and volunteers. Visit England’s Visitor Attraction Accolades assess all aspects of the attraction, from visitor welcome and customer care to exhibitions, cleanliness, and catering.
Hartlebury Castle offers a great full day out for visitors as they explore the “well-presented” Bishop’s Palace and “comprehensive and varied” Worcestershire County Museum, before heading outdoors to enjoy the nature walk in the grounds and “very impressive” new playground.
Along with the play area, other recent developments acknowledged by Visit England include blacksmithing courses in the Victorian forge, enabling a wide range of age groups and returning visitors to enjoy their time spent at Hartlebury Castle, and to get hands-on with Worcestershire’s history.
The gift shop continues to provide an attractive range of stock including items by local suppliers, and the staff and volunteers have been praised as “both knowledgeable and enthusiastic” in their customer care.
Visit England Director Andrew Stokes said, “These accolades […] recognise different aspects of the visitor experience with attractions who really go the extra mile, whether it’s offering exceptional food and drink or magical storytelling.”
Museum Manager Rachel Robinson said, “We are delighted to receive the Best Told Story accolade for Hartlebury Castle. This is a fantastic recognition of the hard work carried out by the team and the successful collaboration between Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust and Museums Worcestershire.”
Director of Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust, Steve Bagnall said, “To be awarded the Best Told Story accolade is a wonderful achievement for the team. Alongside our staff, our amazing volunteers play an essential part in the visitor experience, and it is brilliant to be able to share this recognition with them.”
