H. H. Lines: Architecture, Archaeology and Art

Saturday 4 January – June 2025 | Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum

This exhibition will explore the three main loves of renowned artist Henry Harris Lines: architecture, archaeology and landscapes.

Originally from Birmingham, Lines moved to Worcester in the mid-1830s to teach art and went on to explore areas in and around Worcestershire through different mediums including oils and watercolours, finding inspiration from the varied landscapes.

His appreciation for the world around him and the threats he perceived from advancing technology and development led to him preserve the memory of many interesting views, archaeological features, and historic buildings through art.

Free to visit. Plan your visit to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.

Access to the Art Gallery and Museum - lift unavailable

The Art Gallery and Museum is getting even better! Work is taking place from 2024 to 2027 to improve visitor facilities, introduce new displays and create brand-new galleries for the permanent collection.

Please note that as of Wednesday 8 January 2025 the lift will be unavailable while upgrade work is carried out. The lift will be unavailable until March 2025.

During this period, access to the ground and first floors will be by stairs only.

We apologise that these improvements will temporarily limit access for some visitors and aim to complete the development as quickly as possible.

Please get in touch with the team if you have any questions before your visit or if we can help you with access by carrying buggies or walking aids:
