At Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum
Top things to do at Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum
1 | Enjoy Worcester's art collection and new exhibitions
The Art Gallery and Museum is home to an array of exciting (and varied!) exhibitions every year.
Works from the permanent collection are on display throughout the building. There’s always a bright selection on the balcony, gorgeous Benjamin Williams Leader landscapes on the grand staircase and a variety of artworks in the gallery.
Exhibitions are accompanied by events like Bite-size Talks and fun family activities for you to enjoy.

2 | Relax in the cafe
Little Al’s at the Balcony is an award-winning cafe offering fantastic homemade food – including toasties, soup, and cake – as well as wonderful tea and coffee.

3 | Have fun with children's activities
The Art Gallery and Museum is the perfect spot for creative fun! There are family trails to follow throughout the year and jam-packed activity bags, workshops, and more in the school holidays.

4 | See a real-life Victorian chemist shop
Step inside this preserved Worcester chemist shop on the first Friday of every month. In 1974, Steward’s Chemist Shop, formerly situated on Worcester High Street, was relocated lock, stock and many bottles to Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum.
It now also features the original lamp that featured on the BBC’s Repair Shop!
The Chemist Shop is usually open on the first Friday of every month from 11am to 3pm, but is closed through February, March, and April 2025 due to refurbishment works.

5 | Discover military history
Discover the story of the Worcestershire Regiment and the Worcestershire Yeomanry Cavalry in an exhibition about the County’s military history.

6 | Admire the Victorian architecture
From its distinctive exterior to its grand staircase leading up to the galleries, there’s a lot to enjoy about the Art Gallery and Museum alongside its contents!
