Check out 2025’s programme of varied and fascinating Bite-size Talks delivered by the Collections team on Tuesday afternoons throughout the year.

Tuesday 11 March, 2 – 2.30pm.
How was the Worcestershire Conquest Hoard discovered, and what is its significance to the county? Hear from Kate Potter-Farrant who has been working with the Hoard over the last year.
She will discuss the Treasure process and the campaign to give the Hoard a permanent home in Worcestershire.
Kate is Curatorial and Archaeological Finds Arts Scholar Intern.

Tuesday 8 April, 2 – 2.30pm.
Georgie Stevens, Vardo Project Curator, summarises artworks collected during the last 4 years.
Be introduced to a selection of the contemporary artworks by Romani artists, commissioned by Museums Worcestershire and exhibited in last autumn’s successful Atchin Tan exhibition. Atchin Tan explored representations of Romani communities through time.

Tuesday 13 May, 2 – 2.30pm.
The exhibition Architecture, Archaeology and Art focuses on the work of H. H. Lines – but what do we know about his family?
This talk introduces the artistic Lines family and their achievements in art, including being a part of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. The curatorial team will discuss why the H. H. Lines artworks are so important in Worcester’s art collection.
This talk takes place in the H. H. Lines exhibition. This is an exhibition tour, but seating will be provided for those who wish it.

Tuesday 10 June, 2 – 2.30pm.
Be introduced to the spring exhibition, Elizabeth and Stanhope Forbes: A Marriage of Art.
Senior Curator Deborah Fox will explore works by Elizabeth and Stanhope Forbes, which are already a much-loved part of the Worcester City collection. This exhibition brings more of their art to Worcester.

The Your Worcester exhibition may look like a traditional museum gallery, but its contents were selected and interpreted by the Worcester community over a two-year period.
Hear from the team behind Your Worcester and the remarkable, inspiring people who contributed to this exciting new display at the Art Gallery and Museum.

Can we be sure that all the objects in the collection are authentic?
Hear from curator Kerry Whitehouse about some of the fake objects that have been discovered in Worcester City’s Egyptian collection.

Tuesday 11 November, 2 – 2.30pm.
Paul Kidby is best known for his art based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series of fantasy novels and is celebrated in the exhibition Designing Terry Pratchett’s Discworld: 30 Years of Paul Kidby’s Illustrations.
This talk will take a look behind the scenes of the exhibition, but also delve into Worcester City’s own art collection and bring out work by other illustrators such as Randolph Caldecott to explore the importance of this wonderful artform.
